The challenge
A PrestaShop store of about 178k lines of code was stuck on PHP 5.6, which has been out of support for years. The upgrade had to land without breaking checkout or the order flow.
Our approach
- Automated compatibility scan of the full codebase against PHP 8.4
- AI assisted fixes delivered as a reviewable pull request, with a human approval gate
- Full test suite run on PHP 8.4 before release
- Security hardening added as part of the upgrade
The result
- Compatibility errors went from 189 to 2 documented exceptions
- 563/563 tests pass, with 0 fatal errors and 0 warnings
- Real orders were placed and verified after the migration
- Security hardening added
